Good afternoon! You will notice that there are quite a few more attachments that usual. Ms. Mitchell and I have decided to send out the agenda layout so that you can verify your student is copying down homework assignments correctly each week. You also have several study guides/sheets that I will discuss further below within the subject areas. DREAM homework sheet, Third grade newsletter, and I can statements are attached as usual. In Science this week, we will be preparing for a test on Force & Motion on Thursday. We will complete and review all attached documents in class, however, I am attaching them in the event you would like to study more at home. We explored the Steve Spangler website today and observed several of his experiments on Force. The children loved it, so I promised them I would share the link so that they could view more from home. http://www.stevespanglerscience.com/lab/experiments I will be creating a special link to this site on my website so that they can reference it as needed. The address to my site is: www.3-burnette.weebly.com Our Force & Motion test will be on Thursday and we will then begin our next unit on Sound on Friday with a fun diagnostic assessment to identify their prior knowledge about sound. In Math, we will be working on Math 4 Today #7. In the past, we have used the work from the week (in the yellow folder) as their study guide for the test. We thought it would be more helpful to have an actual study guide with specific examples from the test (using different numbers). We will send these home on Tuesday for homework and then go over them together in class on Thursday so that you can review for Friday’s test. Students who bring back a signed study guide on Friday will receive 5 bonus points on the test. Your signature is verifying that you have studied and reviewed the information with your child. We will continue working with time as our standard in practice. Students are responsible for telling time to the nearest minute and also solving word problems involving elapsed time. We will have a time summative assessment on Friday. Please remember that Dojo reports and graded test papers are sent home every Monday. These should be signed and returned the next day. Remember that you can check grades anytime by logging onto the parent portal or by downloading the parent app. If you do not know your child’s login information (it should be your email address), please respond and I will get the information to you as soon as possible. The app will also provide you notifications of grade updates, attendance, and also if their lunch account becomes negative. http://www.pearsonschoolsystems.com/products/mobile/parents/ Please let me know if you have any further questions. I enjoy the time I get to spend with your children each day and their enthusiasm for learning is truly a blessing. Have a great afternoon!
