Good afternoon! I have attached the DREAM sheet and Third Grade Newsletter for the week. Students have both in their red homework folder, along with Dojo Reports and graded test papers. Please be sure to sign these and return them tomorrow. I have also included the agenda layout for the week for your convenience. Students are expected to fill in I can statements and copy homework each day. Please help us hold them accountable! In Science, we are beginning a new unit on Sound. To begin our unit, I gave each student a Word Spider and asked them to guess what our new unit would be. This activity allowed me to access their previous knowledge of sound and the vocabulary. Those that were not familiar with the terms were unable to guess the correct unit topic. Guesses ranged from energy, electricity, vibrations, music, etc. Although many had some close guesses, I only had a handful that identified SOUND as our new topic. We will continue throughout the week and into next week learning about sound. We have some exciting activities planned that will allow students to explore through inquiry based investigations. We will not have an assessment until next week. I have included a link to a clip from Ms. Mitchell’s homeroom where they are performing a Scoot assessment. The kids love coming in and seeing the cards out! The constant movement and brisk pacing forces the students to stay focused and apply their knowledge. We are working in partners today to complete an assessment involving real-world problems solving for elapsed time. Tomorrow we will continue in our measurement strand and being a unit on mass and volume. The DREAM sheet is a continuation of the practice we will complete in class. We are working on Math 4 Today week 8. I will send home a study guide tomorrow (attached) which is due by Thursday. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns! Have a great afternoon!
