Good morning! Students have their Dojo reports and graded test papers in their red homework folders. Please remember to sign them and return them by tomorrow. I can statements and agenda layout are also attached. Please continue to help us hold students accountable for recording them in their agenda each week. In Math, we are continuing with our study of Mass & Volume. Students have been working to measure using grams, kilograms, liters, and milliliters. We are working on Math 4 Today #9. The study sheet is attached. Please remind students that these are due on Thursday. Once we go over them in class, a parent signature verifying that your student has studied is worth 5 extra points on the test given on Friday. The DREAM sheet is attached and will review the mass and volume practice from class. Dream sheets are collected on Friday. In Science we will finish up on our Sound unit this week. Students really seem to be enjoying all of the learning activities we are doing with sound right now. Making duck calls on Thursday was a huge hit! Students enjoyed learning that they could manipulate the pitch and volume of their duck calls by changing the length and force. Last Friday, we also explored an interactive website about sound. The links are provided if they want to practice again with it at home. http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/scienceclips/ages/5_6/sound_hearing.shtml http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/scienceclips/ages/9_10/changing_sounds.shtml Another link for a great review on sound is: http://studyjams.scholastic.com/studyjams/jams/science/energy-light-sound/sound.htm Today, we created flashcards for our sound vocabulary. These are the vocabulary words that will be on the test on Wednesday. Tomorrow, we will complete a multiple choice study guide with questions provided from our instructional computer program, Study Island. All of these documents are attached for your convenience. On Thursday and Friday, we will begin introducing our new science unit on Properties and changes in matter. It’s one of my favorite units! Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns!
