Good morning! Only three documents attached for the week. There is no DREAM sheet, multiplication log, nor Math 4 Today Study sheet since we have a short week. Graded test papers and Dojo reports will be sent home today. Please sign and return these tomorrow. In Science we will finish our plant life cycle unit. Students will collect information from their PASS Coach and other material to record in their plant foldable. This will be their assessment for plant life cycles. We will also watch two time lapse videos on the stages of the pumpkin’s life cycle and then complete an activity that allows students to illustrate the life cycle. (seed, sprout, vine, flower, green pumpkin, mature pumpkin) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXLnCd4JMH4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WOrSPxegiw In Math, we will be working on a Thanksgiving activity packet. Students will make guest lists, determine the amount of turkey needed, shop for fixings, analyze nutritional numbers, solve elapsed time for cooking and preparation, develop seating arrangements, and finally solve some Black Friday shopping problems related to subtraction of discounts, time scheduling, and markdown mistakes. I am very excited about these activities, as I hope it will show them the importance of math in the everyday world. It is possible that we will not have time to complete the packet, so I am going to offer it as extra credit for anyone who returns the completed packet by Wednesday, December 3. I am attaching an additional copy in the event you need replacement pages. You will also notice there is a parent survey attached to this email. Students have copies of these in their homework folder. We want to know what YOU think about your child’s school. The information from the survey will help us improve student relationships, learning conditions, and the school’s overall environment. Your answers are confidential. Your answers will be combined with those of other parents. No one will be told how you answered. This survey is voluntary. You do NOT have to answer any question if you do not want to, but we hope you will answer as many questions as you can. Please complete these and return them to school as soon as possible. I am so thankful for each student. It is such a blessing to watch them grow and learn each day. I am also thankful for each of you (parents and guardians). Without your support and involvement, we would not have the success that we do. I pray that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and safe travels.
