Hello! I am including documents for the week. Students also have graded test papers with their Dojo Report and newsletter that should be signed and returned tomorrow. In Math, we are continuing to work with Multiplication. Students are finishing up their Dream House projects today. Tomorrow, we will be completing a Multiplication Word Problem Scoot. Students love doing Scoots as a way to show what they know. I am including an example question from our Scoot if you would like to practice more at home. (You can also view this link to see how a Scoot works in our class: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NucQTmMAkrA&list=UUj9wP2OM6iqWYtQ5nC5jiqg. This was a previous Scoot on telling time we did about a month ago.) We will practice facts and strategies at different center activities during the remainder of the week. I have also decided that we will NOT have a DREAM homework sheet this week. Students have been working extremely hard in class and deserve the reward of a homework break! J I do ask that students still complete their multiplication log, as it is very important that they study each day to help prepare for the Kiwanis tests each Friday. In Science, we will note observations as our bean plants germinate and sprout. This is a picture of one that is displayed in our classroom. Our entire 3rd grade courtyard window is covered with greenhouses. The children are captivated as they walk by making observations about the bean plant’s life cycle. We are also working to assemble a plant foldable that students will use to gather all important information about the plant life cycle and the jobs of each part of the plant. The information we record in this foldable throughout the week can be used to study/prepare for out plant test coming up. There are also excellent review videos about plants on Brain Pop, Jr.: http://www.brainpopjr.com/science/plants/
If you would like to view our Bean Plant video from last week…here’s the link again: https://animoto.com/play/l5WTSvjrbsOprCa3UIOtaA Please let me know if you have any questions and/or concerns. Also be reminded that Donuts for Dads is tomorrow morning beginning at 7am in the Cafeteria. There is no charge for WES students, and visitors are $1. We hope that you enjoy this special time with your student. Interims will be issued on Wednesday. Please remember to sign and return them the following day.
