Hello, parents. I have attached all documents for the week. Please remember that students have graded test papers, newsletters, and Dojo Reports that need to be signed and returned tomorrow. In Science, we will have our summative assessment on Heat & Matter tomorrow. Students have vocabulary flashcards and study questions to study. I have also attached them for your convenience. On Wednesday, we will begin our unit on plant life cycles. In Math, we are continuing with multiplication. Students have been working extremely hard to learn their facts. They love getting to practice the songs each day. Last week, I had students complete a “practice” Kiwanis timed test. From this, we observed how many facts they were able to complete in 11 minutes and how many of those they answered correctly. We then set goals to improve our speed and accuracy. I can’t wait to pull these out next week and have students compare their new tests with them. I believe these kids will see improvement! Later this week, we will be completing an activity where students complete their dream house, relating it to multiplication and area. We will discuss that there are many career choices that will use math…I will provide examples of architects, interior decorators, painters, builders, contractors, etc. We will also read the book If I Built a House by Chris Van Dusen. This book describes an imaginative eight-year-old’s home design. Jack’s home is complete with a Racetrack Room, Flying Room, and gigantic slide. I can’t wait to see the designs of our students’ dream homes! We will be working on Math 4 Today Week #13. I have decided to let them complete the study guides in class so that it does not continue to add to their homework load. Our test will continue to be each Friday. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding this week’s assignments. I am so proud of each one of these students and their desire to learn and actively participate in their education. They make by job a breeze!
