Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! This week's homework can be found below. You can click on the agenda picture to download an additional copy of the homework for the week. Dojo reports, graded test papers, and 3rd grade newsletter will also be sent home today. Please sign them and return them tomorrow. You will notice on the homework that we will have a Core Bites test tomorrow. These tests run every 15 lessons (we complete one in class each day). We typically do not give study guides for Core Bites since the questions are pulled straight from that set of Core Bites (#16-30), but we decided to give one this time. We completed Core Bites Study Guides in class today. If you review the study guide with your child, please be sure to sign it for 5 extra bonus points!
In Math this week, we are working on numeric forms (expanded, standard, and word) and comparing numbers. Students are very familiar with this since it shows up on Core Bites and Math 4 Today a good bit, but we want to ensure mastery before we skip past the standards. This week we are working on Math 4 Today #8 with our test on Friday. I will not be at school on Thursday or Friday, as I will be away at a residency in Atlanta for my doctorate program. With this being said, we will go over Math 4 Today study guides on Wednesday so that they get the instruction from me and not the substitute. In Science, we are beginning our new unit on Magnetism and Electricity. We will do some inquiry activities involving circuits and electric conductors and also begin reading Chapter 2 Lesson 1 and answering the corresponding questions. We will also introduce all of the vocabulary for the chapter using Quizlet. On Thursday, students that sold at least 1 item in our fundraiser will attend Thunderbash. Also, qualifying students will attend Limo to Lunch on Friday. WPS character parade is also this Friday. Our class will go out on the bus circle and watch the parade so that they can see any family members that are participating. Please be sure to send your child to school with a jacket in the event it is cool. As mentioned above, I will not be at school on Thursday or Friday. Please do not send any time pertinent information to my email or voicemail. I will be checking email if you have any questions or concerns -- I am just not sure how often I will be free from sessions. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns regarding this week. Thank you for your continued support.
