Good afternoon! Below you will find our third grade newsletter with upcoming information. Students have a copy of these with their Dojo report and several flyers with important information from the school regarding upcoming events. Please notice that our awards program is next Wednesday at 8am in the cafeteria. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are all half days for students. They will be dismissed at 11:30am and lunch will NOT be served on these days. We will have our class party on Tuesday (May 24th). Awards is on Wednesday, as already stated, and our Field Day is on Thursday. We do not have anything planned for Friday and attendance will not be recorded on the 1/2 days. Please remember that The Critter Keeper will be here on Wednesday. Each student should bring $1 by tomorrow. Students will also receive their Kiwanis medals on Thursday if they have mastered their facts. They will be able to try again tomorrow and Wednesday if they are not already on the list to receive a medal. Please encourage them to practice at home and also to stay focused during the tests, as they are timed. This week in Science we will continue with our "Eco-friendly" theme as we focus on protecting habitats and preventing change. Our activities this week will revolve around the movie Hoot. Today students researched about the burrowing owl and recorded important facts about them. Tomorrow, we will watch the movie and proceed with other activities related to owls, nocturnal animals, and protecting habitats. Last week, I taught students about coordinate planes and plotting ordered pair. They may have shown you the the flower picture that they created from coordinates. We will continue this practice as they complete a picture of an owl. If they are unable to finish it during class time, they may work on it at home. This task is very demanding and can be somewhat difficult from them but they always become extremely engage and determined to complete the picture. We will also work on Math 4 Today Week #33. We will complete the test on Friday, however, this grade will not be recorded in the gradebook. There is no homework for the week other than getting Dojo report signed and bringing in $1 for Critter Keeper.
Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. I hope everyone has a great week!
