Hello, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! This morning, we had our "make-up" Watershed from when Mr. Limbke was ill. It was entitled "Marsh Munchers" and we learned about food chains, producers, consumers, decomposers, etc. The students loved it! I caught a quick video clip of them doing their food chain chant. Check it out! This week in Science, we will begin animal adaptations. We have several fun activities planned with the read-alouds below. Ms. Beech, the media specialist, will be helping us out on this! In Math, we plan to revisit multiplication and word problems. We have been completing the "Turner Timed Test" each month and unfortunately, we only have a few that have made 100. We found a unit plan that promotes multiplication success in 7 days with a plan of teaching the facts in chunks. With that being said, our homework will be a little different this week. We have included the DREAM pennant at the top, so that you can recognize it as their homework sheet. Over the next seven days, we will be revisiting the multiplication facts. We will be using a system called Seven Days to Multiplication Mastery. Each day I will send you some problems that I want you to help your child master. Have your child drill these facts and these facts only so that your child will master these by the next day. How you choose to do this is really up to you. The homework sheets for this week and next week are attached below. There is no written homework required to be turned in for this!
On Friday, students always take advantage of their reward coupons. They also get to use the iPads for eReading if they finish their tests early. Hope you enjoy the pictures below of a few of them using their coupons and also checking out the First Book / Open Ebook app. They were amazed that they could download some of the latest and most popular titles...all for free! (Don't forget you can use this from home as well!) Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns! Have a great week!
