Good afternoon! I have attached the DREAM homework sheet and Third grade newsletter for this week. Graded test papers and Dojo Reports will also be sent home today. Please remember to sign these and return them tomorrow. In Math, we will continue focusing on the properties of multiplication. This week we will engage in activities exploring the commutative, associative, and distributive properties. We will have a quiz on Friday to assess their knowledge of the 5 properties (we discussed identity and zero properties last week). We are working on Math 4 Today Week #16. We will complete the study guide together in class on Thursday. I have attached it in the event you would like to use it as a practice test. For Science, students worked extremely hard last week as they learned about the life cycles of different animals and presented them to their classmates. I am currently working on compiling a video of their presentations that I will email out once it publishes. We will have our summative assessment on Life Cycles tomorrow. We are completing the study guide together in class today. I decided to make a “Key” for the Science study guide to ensure that all students have the correct answer on their papers and also to assist parents with studying at home. (attached) Although on the study guide, they only have to name and order the life cycles of the bean plant, frog, and butterfly – they will be required to illustrate and label the life cycle on the test. (actually draw a picture) I also ran across a really helpful website that has links to life cycle illustrations from animals in each “category”. (Near the bottom of the page) http://www.kidzone.ws/animals/lifecycle.htm On Wednesday, we will attend the Watershed Ecology Program. Please be sure that you have sent $1 for your child to attend. Afterwards, we will begin discussing plant and animal adaptations. This is one of my favorite units and we have many exciting inquiry based activities planned. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
