Greetings! I have attached third grade newsletter and this week’s homework sheet. Dojo reports and graded test papers will be sent home today. Please sign them and return by tomorrow. In Science, we are discussing plant adaptations. We will use the following videos in class: Plant Adaptation and Study Jams. Students will discuss the adaptations of different plant parts and we will also discuss certain plant adaptations for different habitats. We will explore leaf thickness and how it is an adaptation of their ability to retain water. We will also complete an activity to determine how leaf shape, size, and texture are adaptations for light and water. We will use the following website when we sort plants into their habitats by their adaptations: http://www.mbgnet.net/bioplants/adapt.html. In Math, we will be working at different Christmas themed math stations. Students will practice place value with presents, Exercise estimation skills with the elves, Score big in a sweet subtraction shuffle, Use money skills in a sleepy Santa shopping spree, Match facts in merry multiplication, and write their own winter word problems We are also working on Math 4 Today Week 17. We will complete the study guide together in class on Wednesday, test on Friday. Our school Christmas program will be this Friday at 9am in the Activity Center. It is always a wonderful production – we would love for each of you to attend. Please remember that we will have our Polar Express part on Friday at 1:00. I have attached the flyer that was sent home last week. Please let me know if you have any questions.
