Good morning! If you have pertinent messages for me today, please do not leave them on my school voicemail, as I am not at school today and will not be able to retrieve them. My youngest daughter, Sadie, fell yesterday evening and broke both
bones in her arm, so I am home with her today. The children are in excellent hands with Mrs. Dotson today! She is absolutely wonderful! Our I can statements for the week are: Science - I can use tools , infer data , and explain results for a scientific investigation. Math - I can use many different strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems within 1000. These will be posted in their agenda for this week, found on page 25. I have attached the DREAM homework sheet in the event you need a replacement. Please remember that these are collected every Friday. Our school-wide policy, as noted in the student handbook, is "No homework; No recess." The homework on this week's DREAM sheet is a continuation of what we are doing in class - addition and subtraction within 1000. Scholastic Study Jams has some excellent videos/tutorials that will be a good review for them at home: http://studyjams.scholastic.com/studyjams/jams/math/addition-subtraction/add-with-regroup.htm http://studyjams.scholastic.com/studyjams/jams/math/addition-subtraction/sub-with-regroup.htm http://studyjams.scholastic.com/studyjams/jams/math/addition-subtraction/add-sub-wo-regrp.htm We are working on Math 4 Today Week 3, and will have an assessment on Friday. In science, we are continuing with our study of conducting scientific investigations. This week we will focus on different tools used in science and also recording data, then comparing results. We will watch the following videos in class: http://studyjams.scholastic.com/studyjams/jams/science/scientific-inquiry/scientific-methods.htm http://www.brainpopjr.com/science/scienceskills/tallychartsandbargraphs/ Please feel free to let your student watch them again from home for review. Students will have their Dojo reports stapled to the third grade newsletter (also attached), several important flyers from the office, and graded test papers. Please be sure to sign the Dojo report and return it to school tomorrow. You may keep the test papers and flyers for your files. You can email me or call with any questions or concerns that you may have.
