Dear Parent(s): We completed our heat lab in class today. We discussed that there are many common misconceptions (misunderstandings) regarding sources of heat and insulators. Students know that they cover up with a blanket if they are cold, so they automatically assume that the blanket is a source of heat, however, it is actually trapping heat from their body and serving as an insulator. (Students are required to know the following sources of heat: sun, electricity, burning, rubbing, and living things.) I wanted to share a video of pictures. I have also postponed our science test until next Tuesday instead of this Friday, as we have not completed all of the activities and I want to give them ample time to prepare. Thanks!
