Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful break! Please review the agenda page below for this week's homework assignments. Remember that you can download an additional copy of the homework pages by clicking on the picture. You will notice that students should study for their Core Bites test #4 tomorrow. This is simply a review of material that we practice in class each day. Students received a study guide and we went over correct answers today in class. We are working on Math 4 Today #17 this week in class. We will complete that study guide together in class on Thursday and our test will be on Friday as usual. We are also working on multiplication and division word problems and number patterns with multiplication this week. Please continue to encourage your students to practice their multiplication facts by flashcards, our songs, apps, or practice tests. In science we are continuing our unit on Earth's features. We have reviewed soils today and students will work with groups to complete the lesson check-up tomorrow in class. I purchased this awesome set on TpT to go along with what the students are working on with Ms. Mitchell in ELA. I’ve been using it when students are writing in Science and we LOVE it! In the past, I’ve never really stressed “writing rules/expectations” since I don’t teach it, but I have realized that I am allowing the students to create bad habits. I can see a BIG difference in their writing skills and I also love watching them edit when they do get a ticket! When students work on lesson check-ups this week, I will continue to "patrol" for mistakes with capitalization, organization, punctuation, and spelling. Students have the above reminder on the board to help them with editing their work. Before break, we enjoyed a Watershed session from USC Upstate about soils. Students were able to participate in hands on activities making observations about rocks, minerals, and soil types. Please enjoy the photos below from our classtime. I am sending home newsletters, graded papers, and Dojo reports today. Please be aware that these reports are for the week leading up to break. Please sign these and return them tomorrow.
Report cards will also be issued tomorrow. Please be sure to sign the report card and return it by Thursday. Once I check for the signature, I will return it back to you for keeping.
