Good afternoon! As you know we will have statewide testing this week, so there is no homework or tests. I am attaching the 3rd Grade newsletter for your convenience. We will continue practicing our multiplication facts with the Kiwanis tests each day. Please feel free to download a copy from the "downloadable documents" tab and practice at home as well.
There is also a review assignment created in Study Island. Our Math section is not until Wednesday. If your child wishes to do extra practice from home, please allow them to complete this assignment, as the questions are created directly from our state standards!

Today's Watershed was "All Around the World". Mr. Lembcke shared all types of animals with us today. We discussed the needs of all living things (food, water, air, shelter, space) and the characteristics of different vertebrates and invertebrates. We saw amphibians, reptiles, and arachnids! My favorite was Ella, the full grown leopard gecko, of course! The students were amazed at how big Val will actually get!
We also got to show off our knowledge about omnivores, carnivores, herbivores, parasites, adaptations, and food chains! These students have become life science experts! Hope you enjoy the photos! Third grade attended Ballet Spartanburg's "Peter and the Wolf" today at Chapman Cultural Center. All of the kids really seemed to enjoy it! The ballet company requested there be no photography during the show, so I wasn't able to get any shots of the performance. I did however catch these cute shots on the bus as we loaded. WES filled the house with exception of 2 rows from another school. Students exhibited their best behavior and represented our school well! I am so proud of them all!
Good morning! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I am very excited about another week of learning with your children! In Science, we will have our test on Food Chains on Wednesday. We will complete the study guide in class on Tuesday. I have also created a review assignment in Study Island. Students worked in this on Friday when they finished their tests, but they are more than welcome to do more in the lesson from home as review. The study guide can be found below if you need an additional copy for studying at home.
These changes can be due to natural disasters such as wildfires, floods, and droughts or more commonly as a result of humans destroying them. We will discuss endangered and extinct animals. This Brain Pop, Jr. is an excellent resource for this information: https://jr.brainpop.com/science/conservation/extinctandendangeredspecies/ In Math, we are working on Math 4 Today #30 with our assessment on Friday as usual. We will also be working on several math stories where students must read a passage and use information from the passage to answer real-world word problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The DREAM sheet for this week is also reflective of this topic.
I am sending home graded papers, Dojo reports, and 3rd grade newsletters today. Please be sure to read the upcoming events section of the newsletter. Sign your child's Dojo Report and return it on Tuesday, please. Please also be reminded that our 3rd grade field trip is on Wednesday. We will leave at 11:30 and return at 2:00. Students should wear their class t-shirts or a shirt of the same color (Burnette - Black, Mitchell - Baby Blue) and tennis shoes.
Interims will also be issued on Wednesday. Please sign these and return them by Thursday. Also, please be sure to send in $1 by Thursday so that students may attend Watershed - All Around the World on Friday. Mr. Limbke says this is by far the best Watershed program that they bring! Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. I hope everyone has a great week! Hello! I hope everyone had a great spring break! In Science, we will begin our unit on Food Chains. We will learn about carnivores, herbivores, omnivores, producers, consumers, decomposers, predators, prey, etc. There are several Brain Pop Jr. clips and Study Jams that are helpful: http://www.brainpopjr.com/science/animals/foodchain/preview.weml http://studyjams.scholastic.com/studyjams/jams/science/ecosystems/food-chains.htm http://www.brainpop.com/science/ecologyandbehavior/foodchains/ http://studyjams.scholastic.com/studyjams/jams/science/ecosystems/food-webs.htm There is also an AWESOME food chain game that I have listed under the Student Sites of our website. In Math, we are doing different activities to go back and review all of our standards to begin preparing for our SC Ready Test. The DREAM Sheet is also review questions of all standards. We are working on Math 4 Today Week #29 with our assessment on Friday. Students should also continue to study their multiplication facts, as Mrs. Turner will be here on Wednesday for our next Turner Timed Test!
All documents can be downloaded from above. I am sending home graded test papers and newsletters. There are no Dojo reports since there was no data from Spring Break. No need to sign anything this week!
Please let me know if you have further questions or concerns! I hope everyone has a wonderful week! |
