Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. Information regarding this week can be found below. This week's homework is listed on the agenda page shown. Please remember that you can download an additional copy of the homework sheets by clicking on the photo, in the event you need replacement copies. In math this week, we will work on Math 4 Today #14. We will complete the study guide together in class on Thursday and our test will be on Friday. Please remember to continue practicing addition and subtraction with borrowing and regrouping for our Quick Check practice. Students work on this every day for homework, have additional practice in class, and then are assessed each Friday. When students show their work for checking with the opposite operation, they can earn 1/2 of a bonus point for each problem they work out. We are also working with our introduction to multiplication and division in class. Students have been learning about the different methods for solving these problems: equal groups, arrays, repeated addition/subtraction, and skip counting. Once we learn all about the mechanics of multiplication and division, we will begin memorizing the facts for our timed tests. I encourage you to begin practicing these facts at home each day!
In science, we are beginning a new chapter about Earth's Surface. You can learn more about this chapter and see vocabulary words in the "School to Home Letter". This week, we are working on Lesson 1 about Rocks and Minerals. There are several great videos/tutorials that go along with this. Please feel free to allow your student to review them at home:
Newsletters, Dojo Reports, and graded test papers are also being sent home today. Please be sure to sign these and return them tomorrow. (Lunch notices are also attached for those that owe money or have low balances). Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Thanks and have a great week!
