Tomorrow, students from math homerooms will complete a Mock Writing test with Ms. Mitchell. We will not switch on regular schedule, as they will spend the day with her. Students from Ms. Mitchell's homeroom will complete a math mock test with me and also practice 3-digit by 1-digit multiplication. In math this week, we are continuing area and also adding in perimeter. Students are completing Math 4 Today #29. We will complete the study guide on Wednesday and our test will be on Friday. We will also have another Turner Timed Test on Friday. In Science, we are working on our new chapter on Ecosystems. Students will work in groups to complete the Lesson check together using their textbooks. On Thursday, students will participate in South Carolina History Day. They will rotate between different classes learning all about our wonderful state of South Carolina! This is one of my favorite days of the school year! This year's classes will include: SC Native Americans, The State Dance - Shag, The State Dog - Boykin Spaniel, SC Agriculture, The Revolutionary War in SC, and Textiles in SC. I will be sure to take plenty of pictures and share them so you can see their excitement in the learning process! Graded papers and Dojo reports are being sent home today with the 3rd grade newsletter. Please be sure to sign them and return them tomorrow. Let me know if you have any additional questions or comments! Thanks so much! I have also introduced a new concept in our classroom for rewarding (and modeling) excellent behavior. Students will be selected to have "VIP Seating" if they are doing an excellent job meeting expectations in the classroom. Students also have the opportunity to visit the treat basket as a reward. Our treat baskets now includes passes for the following: The students seemed VERY excited about these new rewards when I introduced them on Friday.
Please feel free to review my current projects on Donors Choose that will improve our VIP Seating area:
